A Season of Reflection, Celebration & Community
As we welcome October and the beautiful colours of fall, there is much to reflect on and celebrate.
This month, we took time to honour the importance of truth and reconciliation, celebrate the incredible women who have shaped the child care sector, and look ahead to a very special milestone in Network’s history, our 35th Anniversary!
Honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30, Network came together to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. It was a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect, learn, and honour residential school Survivors, their families and communities, and the children who never returned home.
At Network, we believe that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, one that calls on all of us to listen, learn, and create environments where every child and family feels a sense of belonging, safety and respect.
We are grateful to our staff, educators and Home Child Care Providers who continue to bring opportunities for learning, reflection and inclusion into their programs and communities.

Celebrating Women’s History Month
October is Women’s History Month in Canada, a time to recognize the achievements and contributions of women and girls throughout Canadian history and today.
This is especially meaningful within the child care sector. According to Statistics Canada, more than 95% of child care workers in Canada are women. In the 2016 Census, women represented approximately 96% of both early childhood educators and assistants and home child care providers. (Statistics Canada)
Behind every child care program are women, educators, leaders, supervisors, administrators, providers, cooks, support staff and countless others whose knowledge, compassion, creativity and dedication help shape the experiences of children and families every day.
At Network, we are proud of the many women who have contributed to our organization over the past 35 years. Their work has helped build the strong foundation we stand on today, while inspiring the next generation of educators and leaders.
This month, we celebrate the women who care, teach, lead, advocate and make a difference every single day.

Network Turns 35!
There is another very special celebration on the horizon!
2026 marks Network Child Care Services’ 35th Anniversary. Since our beginnings in 1991, Network has grown alongside the Toronto community, supporting children, families, educators and affiliated Home Child Care Providers for more than three decades.
We are now ramping up our celebrations as we prepare for a very special 35th Anniversary Luncheon for our staff and affiliated Home Child Care Providers.
This milestone is about much more than a number. It is a chance to celebrate the people, relationships, ideas and moments that have shaped Network over the years, and to look ahead to the future we are building together.
We can't wait to celebrate 35 years of caring, growing and thriving together!
Looking Ahead
October reminds us that change can be beautiful. As the seasons shift, we are grateful for the opportunity to reflect on where we have been, celebrate where we are today, and look forward to where we are going together.
Thank you to our incredible staff, educators, affiliated Home Child Care Providers, families and community partners for being part of the Network family.
Here’s to a wonderful October and to 35 years of making a difference together!
