A Season of Growth

As we step into May, we welcome a season of growth, renewal, and connection. Across our centres, the energy of spring is in full bloom bringing fresh opportunities for learning, exploration, and community. This month, we celebrate the beauty of nature, the importance of meaningful relationships, and the everyday moments that shape each child’s development.

Around Our Centres: Moments That Made Us Smile

Across our Network, April was filled with meaningful moments, joyful learning, and strong community connections. Here’s a glimpse into what our centres have been up to and what’s coming next:

Liberty Village

Our youngest learners celebrated Earth Day as “tiny artists,” exploring blue and green paints to create their own versions of the planet. It was a beautiful blend of sensory play and early environmental awareness.
Toddlers enjoyed a special visit from a parent guest who introduced them to football through hands-on play with passing and throwing.
Preschoolers embraced the spirit of Easter with a lively egg hunt, complete with adorable handmade masks.

Liberty Village is excited to welcome a parent-led jewelry and beading workshop for toddlers, an engaging way to build fine motor skills and creativity. They will also host a special storytelling visit from their local librarian.

St. Nicholas

Children engaged in a variety of enriching, hands-on experiences including baking Easter cookies and welcoming a dental hygienist, to planting with family members. These activities brought learning to life through real-world connections, nurturing both practical skills and a sense of community.

St. Bartholomew

In honour of Earth Day, the centre partnered with a community donation initiative to teach children about sustainability and giving items a “second life.” Through creative projects like painting, planting, and storytelling, children explored how to care for the environment in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.

Group

Children were delighted by a special visit from Pawsitively Pets, a pet enrichment program, where they had the opportunity to learn about animals in a safe, interactive setting. These experiences helped foster empathy, curiosity, and confidence around animals.

Child’s Nest 121

The centre recently hosted a dental screening, supporting children’s health and well-being, alongside festive Easter celebrations that brought joy and connection to the classrooms.

These moments reflect the heart of our child care centres, where learning is joyful, relationships are strong, and every day brings new opportunities to explore and grow.

Spring Has Arrived: Learning Through Nature

With warmer days and longer sunlight hours, our programs are embracing the outdoors as an extension of the classroom. Children are engaging in hands-on, nature-inspired experiences that spark curiosity and creativity. Whether it’s planting seeds, observing insects, exploring textures, or simply enjoying unstructured outdoor play.

These experiences are more than seasonal, they support cognitive growth, physical development, and a deeper connection to the environment. Educators are thoughtfully integrating outdoor learning into daily routines, encouraging children to ask questions, take risks, and discover the world around them.

Families can continue this learning at home by spending time outdoors together by visiting local parks, going on nature walks, or even starting a small garden or mud kitchen. These shared moments help reinforce children’s sense of wonder and belonging.

Celebrating Mother’s Day

This month, we take time to recognize and celebrate the incredible caregivers, mothers, and maternal figures who play such a vital role in children’s lives. Your care, patience, and dedication shape the foundation for growth, confidence, and resilience.

Across our centres, children will be participating in meaningful activities to express their appreciation through art and small gestures created with love. These moments provide an opportunity for children to reflect on the special people in their lives and the ways they show care and kindness.

To all those who celebrate this Mother’s Day: thank you for the countless ways you support, nurture, and inspire.

In Our Community

May is also a time when our Network comes together through collaboration and shared purpose. We continue to focus on creating welcoming, inclusive environments where children, families, and staff feel supported and valued.

We are grateful to our dedicated educators and teams who bring passion and professionalism to their work every day. Their commitment ensures that each child experiences high-quality care rooted in relationships, respect, and responsive learning.
