Message To Affiliated Home Child Care Providers (COVID-19)

Dear Affiliated Home Child Care Providers,

In its communication of Monday June 8th, 2020, the Ontario Ministry of Education has advised that there will be an extension of the emergency measures for licensed child care to Friday June 19th, 2020. Network Child Care Services is therefore obliged to keep its operations and programs closed until Friday June 19th, 2020.

The Chief Medical Officer of Health strongly recommends to limit social contact and to close all licensed child care programs. On March 17, 2020, the Hon. Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario declared a state of emergency in Ontario. Under the Ministry of Education’s Child Care and Early Years Act, licensed child care agencies have a duty to follow the recommendations made by the Chief Medical Officer of Health. In light of these recommendations and ensuring that the health and safety of all children are considered, Network has made the decision to suspend its Home Child Care Program. We believe this is a responsible and reasonable measure to take, to minimize the risk of exposure to the virus. Thus, as of Wednesday March 18, 2020, please do not accept any child referred by Network in your home child care program.

In the meantime, we take this opportunity to remind you of the following recommendations made by Canadian Public Health Authorities:

  1. If you are experiencing Coronavirus/COVID19 symptoms, or to determine whether you should self-isolate or seek medical assistance, call Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000 or your local health unit for assistance and direction.
  2. Network’s Quality Assurance Consultants will be available by email or phone to address any specific questions you may have.

We thank you very much for your understanding. These are unprecedented times and we want you to know that we are doing everything we can to respect the directions and recommendations we are receiving.

Should you require additional information, please email or call Network’s Quality Assurance Consultant assigned to you.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause and thank you in advance for your understanding.

Stay well and best regards,

Spyros Volonakis
